In summer 2008 one of my friends showed us a book : Invitation d’artistes , it was a kind of work book for artistes, promoted by part the of France where I did my bachelord : Picardie. It make us think that we could pick up the some artistes from the book and make exibition by our own included them every month during the all school year. It was the starting point of our project called Carte Blanche.
This is through this project that I want to talk about sponsorship. Because for me, in fact there is two kind of sponsorship: subventions, and “real” sponsors. Well we know that subventions is only about money to help for exemple an artist or a project, and sponsor ships is more like commercial exchange, and can give money OR material to be more visible.
But for the project we did with my friends, subventions and sponsors had the same statue. Our previsional budget was about 1800 euros for the all project. So we’ve been to my university council, and ask it to give 1000 euros for the project, and it accept, We’ve been to the CROUS1 to ask them to give 500 euros for the project, and they did it. So these two subvention groups just gave money for the project, BUT they also have been visible on the posters of the event because we had to put the logo on it. Si it’s for me a kind of sponsorship because there is a exchange where both part of the project can obteins something: money for us, visibility for them.
The real sponsorship we had was BNP Paribas. We needed a account to put the money, and we also missed the last 300 euros to make the project. So we’ve made the bank our sponsor, in exchange of the bank visibility during the all project the bank gave us the 300 euros and made us able to open an account for free.
So, it the reason why I told that sponsorship and subventions were the same in our project, because finally they gave us, and we gave them pretty the same for both of the types of partners.
