Death of advertising?

Exactly there are many kind of advertising – you can do it with help of TV or Internet, use a little old fashioned way like advertising in newspapers and magazines. However, if you would like to talk about really good and remarkable one, it will be complicated. In my opinion, there are some reasons for that.

First and the main, as I think, is existence of typical examples – you haven’t create something new: all that you should do is only change examples for your product. For example, on Russian TV are a lot of absolutely the same advertising of beer – it’s always some kind of party or picnic with beer.

Second one is death of wish to create really good advertising. It’s not art anymore – it’s commercial sphere: the goal is only money, not combination money plus art.

In my opinion, perfect example of death of talented advertising is «Ночь пожирателей рекламы» (I’m sorry I don’t know how translate it) – it’s special international project about advertising. The main aim of «Ночь пожирателей рекламы» is prove not passing value of advertising – it has the same value as works of Leonardo da Vinchi. It started in 1981 and know it’s still exist. Of course, there are still exist examples of good advertising – but interesting thing: in many cases this examples create not commercial, small company, which works in social sphere. If we are talking about corporations and their advertising, only one phrase seems to appropriate: well-maid.

But if I change my point of view, I can say that nowadays well-made advertising for money is in «golden age». All components of all kind of advertising is explained and in good hands it works like perfect machine for getting money. There are enormous amount of information about advertising – if you don’t know what to do just use Google and it will find for you not only appropriate answer, but also another possibilities.

 

Scary movie or useful thing

If to be honest, after lesson about «Second life» project I was thinking a lot. I’m not conservative kind of person and love a lot new technologies and all this staff, but for me «Second life» is like a scary movie. What happens with people if they need second life in Internet? On my view, it’s better to try correcting my mistake in real world, instead of going in Web and creating for myself illusion world. Many people can argue with me about this project – for example, «Second life» gives opportunities to see a world and collection of art from your home: but better will use for this aim real-time web cameras or see virtual guides if you haven’t opportunity to visit this place.

But «Second life» for me is exception to the rules – in general, social media good thing for me and my friend. Of course, the main point of social media for us is borderless communication – I can speak with my friend from Switzerland without problem – for my father and his business it’s also important point – he can discuss conditions of contracts and decide all problems without personal meetings.

Another important thing is opportunities to find new and actual information connected with all your interests and necessary things – only one click and information will work on you.

In general, social media make process of receiving and sharing information more and more simple. I need only phone or computer with Internet for sharing my thoughts or discoveries with whole world – after that I can see what other people think about it and maybe my next step will be connected with completion my ideas.

By the way, about sharing ideas. Nowadays in Runet (Russian Internet) we have two projects, where you can find ways of working with your Idea – from start to successful developing. practical way of sponsorship

It can be hard in nowadays try to show people what you create and make all art’s staff based only on money from yourself. Thanks God, there are opportunities for supporting young, and not only young, talented person from government or something like this. Now I’m in Finland and I can see how it works – for example, small on-line art gallery, where I’m working now, has many sales from government and can spend money for developing (http://paintingdb.com/).

But in many cases it’s not enough. Consequently, people have to find sponsors.

However, in many cases people from art circles idealize sponsorship or think that sponsorship is equal to patronage of arts. In my opinion, it’s a big mistake, because on my own experience (I’ve found a sponsor for my music band) I realized – it’s only a deal between sponsor and sponsored. You should have not an art, but product, which can be favorably sold, be attractive for wide groups of people and have a future.

Of course, I can make a mistake on this practical way of thinking. But when you want to develop your music or something, this way of recognition is the best for you: for example, if you want to find a sponsor in Russia you must be practical person, because government doesn’t want and can’t to help you – you should find a sponsor by yourself and for Russia it’s possible only with help of personal contacts with people who are rich enough.

This situation common not only for modern Russia – even in history we can find examples of unsuccessful attempt to contact with sponsor. For instance, Leonardo da Vinchi  had a great sponsor in Milan (Lodoviko Sforzo), but he couldn’t convince Lodoviko in necessity engineer’s projects (like tank, parachute, diving suite).

But anyway, you shouldn’t forget about art components of our projects – money for developing are great thing, of course, but if you must change your own ideas for getting money I think you should find better offer.
